Exodus

Duncan watches the Earth recede with the speed of super-sonic flight, glowing like a perfect blue marble even still. It makes him ache to think it has come to this, that even their immortal constitution cannot keep up with the sullied environment any longer.
At the window beside him Methos has his face pressed to the cleresteel, tears streaming down his face. Once the naked emotion might have surprised Duncan, but now he realizes that his lover is more a child of the Earth than any other being forced to flee its toxic shores. He reaches out, resting an arm on Methos' shoulders in silent empathy.
Methos turns to him slightly, though his eyes are still fixed on the planet before him.
"I can't do it, Duncan," he says softly.
Duncan just presses into his side, and hangs on.
